NANCY TERRY McCOLLUM SMITH

-

became an angel in the early morning hours on March 12, 2020. The bride of John Michael Smith for 62 years, their love story has been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to everyone they touched.

The Bible she gave Mike on their engagement day, February 14, 1956, was inscribed: “To my Michael. May we always be this happy. Love, Nancy.”

Elegant, beautiful, intelligent… Nancy lived with a passion for the outdoors, from sharp-shooting with her shotgun to raising classic roses. She was devoted to her church family, and especially treasured teaching Bible lessons to the little ones. An accomplished cook who loved to entertain, her celebrations were always an occasion to remember.

Nancy’s parents were Margaret Scales Terry McCollum and Russell Leland McCollum. Nancy’s children are Martha Ellen Talbot, the wife of Beau Talbot; Michael Smith, married to Karola; and Terri Scheiderer, the wife of Emil Scheiderer. Nancy’s grandchildren are Ford Rogers, Elly Elliott, Grace Erwin, Michael Smith, Anthony Smith, Julia Scheiderer and William Scheiderer. Nancy’s great-grandchildren are Annabelle Rogers, JB Rogers and Witten Elliott.

Nancy’s family roots in Stuttgart are four generations deep. She will join her family resting at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart on Monday, March 16, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. The Reverend Steve Hancock will help us celebrate her life, and her homecoming. A visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart.

The family hopes that any memorials to Nancy be lasting, in lieu of flowers: 2nd Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72227; or a cause that makes a difference, just like Nancy did. Please go to www.turpin-co.com to sign the online guestbook.
