PINE BLUFF — Attorney Robert Franklin Morehead,

84 of Pine Bluff, Ark., entered the presence of Jesus on Sunday, March 8, 2020, surrounded by his wife Dr. Qumare Alexander Morehead of 60 years and family. Attorney Morehead is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bernard and J. Elizabeth Dixon Morehead of Little Rock and is the eldest of seven children. He graduated from Dunbar High School in 1952. He attended Arkansas AM&N (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) graduating in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administra­tion. In 1970, he received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law.

Morehead served as the first black Deputy Attorney General for the State of Arkansas. Prior to serving this position, he was Director of the Public Relations Department at AM&N from 1961-69. He also had been a long-time business law instructor at his Alma Mater. Morehead spent nearly 45 years in private practice, as he represente­d clients in criminal law.

Robert Morehead will forever be loved and dearly missed by his wife, Dr. Qumare Alexander Morehead; two sons, Jarvis Bernard Morehead (Patricia); David Franklyn Morehead; four grandchild­ren, Alexandra Morehead-House (Tracy); Lauren Clai Elizabeth Morehead; Victoria Faith Alexis Morehead; and William Davidson Mitchell Morehead; sisters, Maudella Morehead-Parham (Ollie); Miriam Morehead; Clai Morehead Hall (Harry T.), and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved him profoundly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, from 5-7 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home, 2704 Commerce Circle, Pine Bluff, Ark., with a Celebratio­n of Life to follow on Wednesday, March 18, at 11 a.m., at Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen Ave., Drive, Pine Bluff, Ark. Interment in Cedar Grove section of Graceland Cemetery, Pine Bluff, Ark., by Brown Funeral Home. His body will lie in-state 10:15 a.m. until service time.
