TEXARKANA — Franklin Jessie (“Frank”) Garrett, 84,

beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r went to be with his Lord on March 8, 2020.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Freedman Garrett. He is also survived by sons Randal Franklin (“Randy”) Garrett of Clinton, Arkansas, Keith Garrett of Texarkana, Texas, stepdaught­ers Amy Freedman of Texarkana, Texas, Terry Thomas of Texarkana, Arkansas, Dana Huber of Berryville, Virginia, stepsons Eric Payne of Texarkana, Arkansas and Tony Payne of Texarkana, Arkansas, his grandchild­ren Jonathan Randal Garrett, Nicholas Christian Garrett, Bruce Garrett, Lauren Garrett and Morgan Thomas. He is also survived by his sister Maydell Mangus of Ridgecrest, California, cousin Bobbie Warren of Texarkana, Texas nephews Charles David Mangus of Oklahoma City, David Woodul of Lake Arrowhead, California, nieces Javanna Wiley of Ridgecrest California and Rebecca Fults of Palmdale, California. He was predecease­d by his parents Dalton and Idell Garrett, his brother Charles Kelly Garrett and his eldest son, Gregory Garrett. Frank graduated from Hope High School and was a longtime (50 year plus) member of Northern Hills Baptist Church where he faithfully served in jail and prison ministry as well as nursing home ministry for over 45 years. Frank bravely served his country in the National Guard during the 1957 Little Rock Central High School Crisis when President Dwight Eisenhower federalize­d the entire Arkansas National Guard to guard the “Little Rock Nine” students during federally mandated integratio­n.

Frank owned a successful commercial roofing business for many years and was an avid fisherman. More than anything, he loved to tell people about his Lord Jesus Christ and how to be “fishers of men.” You could also find him glued to Fox News on a daily basis getting up to date on current affairs. He loved his country and his President.

Services will be held at Northern Hills Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 with visitation at 10 a.m. and service to follow at 11 a.m. with Dr. Roger Copeland and Pastor James Harris to officiate. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery in Genoa, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Northern Hills Baptist Church. Register online @ www.texarkanaf­uneralhome.com.
