- EMILY WALKENHORST

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas at Monticello announced Tuesday that they have joined other Arkansas universities in continuing remote instruction through the end of the spring semester.

Arkansas State University made the same call Sunday, Hendrix College did so Friday and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville announced the same decision Thursday.

“The extension is meant to give students and faculty as much consistency in course delivery as possible for the duration of the academic year,” a news release from UALR said.

Other Arkansas colleges and universities have announced online-only coursework through at least midApril. Colleges’ plans have been updating periodically and aren’t always announced through news releases.

Others may have transitioned to online coursework for the rest of the semester, as well.

UALR and UAM issued news releases Tuesday.

“The university will continue to remain open,” the UAM news release said, noting that student support services will also continue. “Residence halls and food service also remain open. Students at the UAM Colleges of Technology will receive communication about specific labbased programs.”

Dormitories and dining will stay open at UALR.

UALR is limiting in-person access to its health services, which will become phone-based starting today. Hours will still be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the number to call is (501) 569-3188.

“After screening a patient’s issues via telephone, Health Services may ask patients to visit the office for in-person medical care and/or refer them to another facility as needed,” the news release said.
