CONNIE SUE BICKERS SIMMONS,

-

85, of North Little Rock passed March 17, 2020. She was born July 3, 1934 in Batesville, Ark. to the late Ida Liene and Conway Bickers.

She moved to Little Rock then to North Little Rock as a teenager, graduating from North Little Rock High School. Always a woman strong in her Christian faith, she was a long-time member of Baring Cross Baptist Church where she enjoyed many friends and especially singing in the choir.

Connie worked many years doing clerical/bookwork, retiring from Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee. She felt a special bond with her coworkers, which led to some dear, lasting friendships, especially Ginger Wimberly and Pat Ferguson.

Connie enjoyed traveling with her husband, Tom. Sometimes they traveled alone but they also had many, many fun-filled trips with their “cruise buddies” the Halls and the Johnsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Thomas (T.O.) Simmons; her sister, Betty Wilder (Tom) and her brother, Ed Bickers. Sue is survived by three children, Karen Ashley (Bryant), Barbara Satterfield, and Thomas Dean Simmons (Diane); four grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Montgomery (Blake), Daniel Ashley (Andrea), Sy Satterfield and Bret Satterfield; and four great-grandchildren, Clayton and Laney Jo Montgomery and Gage and Anna Faith Ashley. She is also survived by her brother-inlaw, Jack Simmons (Marilyn) and her sister-in-law, Bobbie Bickers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Elmcroft of Maumelle. Their patient loving care of “Ms. Connie” was evident every day in their words and actions and for this we are truly grateful. We would also like to thank Kindred Hospice for making our mother’s last days comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendly Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 116 South Pine St., North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114, or to the charity of your choice.

There will be an Open Visitation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. A private service will be held at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Guestbook at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
