FREIDA MAXINE BONGEN,

-

86, of North Little Rock, left this earth Wednesday, March 25, 2020, to be with her Savior Jesus Christ and many loved ones in her Heavenly Home. She was born October 9, 1933 in Bloomington, Ind., to Edward and Vida Vaught.

She was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, her husband, Jack Bongen, who died at the age of 47, after 25 years of marriage.

She was a believer and member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in North Little Rock. When her children were young, she worked in the cafeteria at Saint Mary’s School with her best friend, Theresa Berry. They were known for the cinnamon rolls they baked together.

In 1975, she became employed at the State of Arkansas in the Sales and Use Tax Division, where she worked for 25 years, until her early retirement to be a caregiver for her mother at her home.

She is survived by her son, John E Bongen (Chris) of Burlington, Ky.; her daughter, Janis Williams (Terry) of North Little Rock; grandchildren, John Bongen (Jessica), Cade Williams (Starla); great-grandchildren, MaKenzie Bongen, Madison Bongen, Asher Bongen, Rainy Rose Williams; bonus granddaughter, Bela Benson.

Maxine was great to be with. Her sense of humor was unapologetically herself for those who knew her well. She was well known with her neighbors at Forest Wood Townhomes, where she walked her beloved “Jay Jay,” a Bichon Frisse for his daily walks for many years.

She loved her family deeply and was generous and kind. Her greatest joy was giving to others. She will be greatly missed.

Due to the current virus and social distancing, a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date, prayerfully soon.
