MALVERN — Dr. Gerald Scott Husted,

-

69, beloved son, brother, uncle and great-uncle, passed away March 20, 2020, at the home he shared with his sister and brother-in-law in Malvern. His family was by his side. Scott was born on January 5, 1951, in Arkadelphia, Ark., to Harleth and Peggy Husted. Scott always knew he wanted to be a doctor, and he attended UAMS where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Fraternity for academic achievement. He retired from Great River Medical Center as Chief Pathologist in 2010.

Left behind to celebrate his life are his sister, Susan Murch, and husband Carl, his niece, Laura Shudrowitz, and husband Brian, and his nephew, Matthew Murch. Scott had one great-nephew, William Shudrowitz, and one greatniece, Jenna Kate Shudrowitz. Sharing in the celebration of his life are special care-givers Diana Hughes and Candice Parkerson, along with many other care-givers and hospice workers over the years.

Scott was a humble man who had a generous heart and cared greatly for his family. He never missed a holiday even though he lived out of town. He was a very private person but he was always quietly ready to help those who were in need. He truly enjoyed being able to lend a helping hand when he saw an opportunity. His legacy will forever be the loving impact he had on others.

Scott had many interests. He loved to travel. As a passionate Razorback fan, Scott enjoyed traveling with family to watch the football games, and he had the best Hog call ever. Scott’s grandfather was a gunsmith, and he shared his grandfather’s (Clyde Key) interest in guns. He loved to target shoot and was a member of various shooting clubs. Scott was the best uncle to his niece, nephew and great-niece and great-nephew! He spent countless hours playing hide and seek and playfully locking everyone out of the house.

A private graveside service will be held for family on Monday, March 23, 2020. A special thank you to Elite Hospice for taking care of our Scottie in such a loving and compassionate way. In lieu of any flowers please send a donation to a charity of your choice.
