Tom was born January 28, 1938, the youngest of 10 children to the late Samuel J. Wilson and Lillian Hancock Wilson. Tom was a spirited youth, and loved telling stories, like how he walked to school in snowstorms, uphill both ways. He was a talented musician, having taken lessons alongside Glen Campbell from Glen’s uncle, Boo Campbell. Tom sang a little, but he was most skilled at picking the guitar, playing country music by ear. Tom enjoyed golfing most of his adult life, and played a mean domino game.

In 1975, Tom and his wife, Linda, purchased the Delight Hardware store, which he owned and operated for the best part of 45 years. Mr. Wilson was a firm believer in giving back to his community. He was appointed to the Delight City Council in February 1997, and served as a council member until his death. He was also a member of the Lions Club, the Delight Chamber of Commerce, the Delight Volunteer Fire Department, and the Delight First United Methodist Church. He was a great supporter of the Delight Summer Ball Association, sponsoring numerous teams throughout the years, and proudly cheering on his son and grandsons.

Tom was preceded in death, to be rejoined in heaven, by his wife of 44 years, Linda K. Catron Wilson, both parents, brother Jack Wilson, and sisters Vernice, Gladys, Etherine and Clotile. Tom is survived by many friends and loved ones, including his sister Dorothy, brothers Carlton, John and Bill, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Cathy Fant.

Tom leaves as his legacy his devoted children and grandchildren; son Tommy Wilson and wife Lilly, daughter Velvet Pilot and husband Lyn, daughter, Laura Wofford and husband Gary, grandsons, Clay Pilot, Dylan (Christa) Pilot, John Thomas (Hope) Wofford, Thomas Lynn Wofford, granddaughters, Kristina Wilson and Kimberly Wilson, great-granddaughter, Lily Pilot and great-grandson Parker Pilot. Tom’s love for his family was outweighed only by their love for him. He was a much beloved father, grandfather, brother, un-

cle and friend to many who are richer having known him.
