RONALD (RON) MASHBURN

-

won his courageous battle with cancer on March 21, 2020 when he went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Ron was born in Little Rock, Ark., on June 22, 1962 to Curtis Gerald and Doris Faye (Horn) Mashburn. He was a life-long resident of Sherwood, and was a 1980 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School where he played football. After high school, he played football at Harding University for one year before transferring to UCA, where he met his wife, Karen.

Ron was a residential building contractor, and the hardest worker we knew. He took pride in his work and his family. He had the best sense of humor of anyone that God ever made, and his family and friends were blessed by his happy nature and unfailing optimism. There was never anyone who loved gun collecting, hunting and fishing more than Ron. Some of his favorite memories were of his Colorado elk hunting trips with his buddies and his brothers-in-law. He also loved coaching and attending his kids’ sports events, especially the girls basketball games, where he made many life-long friends.

He is survived by his parents; his wife of 34 years, Karen Mashburn; his son Ryan Mashburn (Marie) and his precious granddaughter Kalyn Mashburn; daughter Alexa Grace Mashburn; sister Lisa Elfrink (Greg); nephew Noah Elfrink; his brother-in-law Larry Mount (Rita); and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him. Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leon and Billie Horn and Curtis and Ellen Mashburn.

Ron’s family would like to especially thank Dr. Omer Khalil and the wonderful staff at Carti for their outstanding care and compassion during Ron’s illness.

Because of the Corona Virus, there will be a private burial at White Church Cemetery in Harrison, Ark. Ron loved the hills, and we will bury him in his camo and not the “choke strap” and “toe pinchers” that would be required with a suit.

Pallbearers will be Gregg Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Lee Mashburn, Greg Elfrink, Noah Elfrink, and Dennis Horn.

If you would like to do something in memory of Ron, we ask that you please consider making a donation to Carti to help continue the fight against cancer, or to the Paragould Children’s Home.

No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those that love him.
