Party fights for policy
Rex Nelson said that angry old men would call him a RINO, an acronym for Republican in Name Only, in his Sunday column. He then proceeded to confirm that he really is a RINO. He had the audacity to brag on George Bush. In my opinion, Bush was nothing more than a global elitist who was partially responsible for our economic mess with China and totally responsible for the crisis in the Middle East, among other bad decisions. Worst of all, he had no backbone. When the liberal Democrats and their media allies criticized him, he rolled over like a puppy.
I believe Trump, while sometimes combative when unnecessary, is a Republican who will actually push back on progressive issues and put American interests first. That’s the main reason the left hates him so much. They are like spoiled children whose parents finally put their foot down and the kid doesn’t like it.
Nelson’s idea that Trump losing would allow the Republican Party to reconstruct itself is just plain foolish.
Like most RINOs, it seems Nelson yearns for the Republican Party of old. The party has moved on. Does he actually have any idea what Joe Biden stands for? I believe Biden has steadily moved further to the left, so much so that he’s put Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on his climate change committee.
Let me put Nelson’s main point in perspective. By Trump losing he will actually be supporting Biden, and thus the policies of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, Maxine Waters and the rest of the radical left for the sake of reconstructing the old Republican Party. Mr. Nelson, I’m an angry old woman. I’ve been angry for decades at so-called Republican moderates like George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and all the other weak-kneed Republicans who gave in to liberals. Perhaps Mr. Nelson belongs in today’s Democrat Party instead of trying to reconstruct a dead horse. We now have a Republican Party in Washington that fights for its policies and a president who has their back. JUDY KERR
