America needs to heal
I am sincerely concerned for the health and well-being of my great America, both figuratively and literally. Where is that still small voice of truth and reason, that rogue tone of logic and trust my ears so desperately need to be soothed by? I am craving an inspired confidence with the whole of me, mind, body and spirit, the way an alcoholic might crave a drink. I am turning over those rocks in the field of confusion, seeking a remedy for the anxiety and unrest my serenity has been afflicted with.
And where do they find their solace, those men and women on the front lines: by way of the comfortable folding of a dollar bill? If we bring compensation into the conversation, can we allow such a discourse without introducing those men and women who are fighting from the ghost front line, the essentials behind the essentials? How are those folks expected to stomach the thought of their non-essential counterparts sheltered safely at home while benefiting so handsomely from the more than generous Band-Aid the government has chosen to patch them up with? This is not a condemnation of those unfortunate enough to be without work while at the same time fortunate enough to be able to keep the lights on with a little help from our quick-draw, stimulus-shooting friends in the White House. I am simply requesting someone, anyone, to shine a light of sanity down upon all of us in these, yes, I’m going to say it, these uncertain times.
In closing, I beseech you, President Trump. I implore you, Nancy Pelosi. I petition you, Dr. Fauci, and all others who sit in a position of intellectual influence and practical, pragmatic persuasion: Please, make America well again!
A sincere and hopeful peace to you all.
