SOAP STAR

Linsey Godfrey: Actress overcomes adversity to thrive on `Days of our Lives’: If there is one word that best describes Linsey Godfrey, it is “survivor.”

The 31-year-old actress who portrays Sarah Horton on NBC’s “Days of our Lives,” had just moved to Los Angeles from her native Florida and landed guest roles in “One Tree Hill” and “Surface” when a diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma brought her promising career to a halt in 2006. After seven months of treatment, the cancer was gone but her career had been derailed.

She returned to acting after several years, appearing in series such as “CSI: Miami” and “Wizards of Waverly Place” and the movie “The Assignment” before getting her first regular daytime role as Caroline Spencer on CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

Then disaster struck again in February 2015 when she was hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk in Los Angeles, leaving both her legs crushed and her ankles broken. Following surgery, she was back on the “B&B” set in a walker a month later and the accident was written into the storyline for Caroline.

The character died of a blood clot in 2018 but the actress’s career lives on. She’s been on the NBC soap the last two years, with the promise of more “Days” to come.
