“Kit”, age 76, passed away June 21, 2020 in her home. She was born February 8, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Ted and Lois Shaw. She is preceded in death by her firstborn, Lois Lee, her parents, and her only brother, Sammy Shaw.

Selfless would be the perfect adjective to describe Kit. She gave of herself unselfishly without ever expecting anything in return. Her passion in life was her family. She always went above and beyond for those she loved. She had a servant heart, always putting others ahead of herself. She devoted her life to Jesus Christ and it showed in the way she sacrificed, loved and served others. She truly was the portrait of selflessness. She loved her family with her whole heart and prided herself on doing for others. She has left behind a beautiful legacy. She will be greatly missed.

For 40 years Kit worked as a secretary at Calvary Church of the Nazarene where she was a founding member and faithful steward. For 25 years Kit voluntarily cooked every Wednesday night to serve meals for the church family. She loved serving her church family.

Kit’s life was a living example of 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

Kit is survived by Melvin Garrett and their children, Melanie Abundis (Fabian) and Chuck Garrett (Donna). She leaves behind five grandchildren who adored her; Brooke White (Pat), Emily Abundis, Matthew, Andrew, and Josh Garrett. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren; Tyleigh, Patrick Jr., and Tinsley White. All of these she loved dearly and touched deeply.
