84, formerly of Flint, Michigan transition­ed Sunday, June 21. She had resided in North Little Rock since 2013. Blanche, the second daughter of the late Frank and Katie Hockhenhul­l Washington of Lakeview, Arkansas, was also preceded in death by sisters: Ardie Funderburk of San Bernadino, California and Minnie Vincent of Flint; four brothers: Curtis and Lavelle Washington of Lake View and James “J.F.” and Narvell Washington of Flint. Blanche retired from Flint’s Hurley Hospital after more than thirty years of service. She was a dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church in Flint, where she served as an usher for more than four decades. After returning to Arkansas, she regularly attended Harris Temple Baptist Church in Wrightsvil­le and King Solomon Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

She is survived by son, Melvin (Ester) Washington of North Little Rock, step daughter, Gwendolyn Evett Farmer of Stafford, Texas: grandchild­ren, Melvin Jr. (Erika) Washington of North Little Rock, Tamika Goines of Evansville, Indiana and Sterling Farmer of Stafford; three great grandchild­ren, Braniqua Sherman and Shaquille Goines of Evansville, Indiana and Dash Farmer of Stafford; as well as five great-great-grandchild­ren, Anayshia, Za’Kaiya, Ja’Nirah, Bre’Asia, and Warner Jr. all of Evansville. Others cherishing Blanche’s memory are sisters, Gwendolyn Washington Bush of Helena, Arkansas and Mable Washington Bynum of North Little Rock; sisters-in-law, Rachel Washington of Cedar Park, Texas and Virgie Washington of Norcross, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends in Michigan and Arkansas, especially members of Antioch, Harris Temple, King Solomon, and First Baptis Lake View, the Flint AARP Chapter, and the Lakeview Associatio­n of Alumni and Friends, Incorporat­ed.

A June 26 walthrough viewing is scheduled for 6-7 p.m. at Superior Funeral Services. and a graveside service will be held Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. at Arkansas Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8507 Hwy. 161, North Little Rock.
