For more than 20 years, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has hosted a one-day Job Fair at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the event pivoted to an online event, the 2020 Virtual Arkansas Statewide Job Fair.

Launched on May 19, the virtual event continues to connect job seekers with employers and will run until July 17. There are currently 40 participating vendors and more than 50 jobs posted.

“It was important for us to try to find a way to bring job opportunities to our job seekers,” said Amanda Copley, marketing and events director for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “We enjoy hosting our Spring Job Fair every year, but this year, we couldn’t host the event due to the pandemic, so we transitioned to a virtual event. Not only did we work quickly to put together the Virtual Job Fair, but we also decided to go statewide and include jobs from all over the state. All of our properties are participating in the event, bringing even more job opportunities to Arkansans than we even thought possible.”

The 2020 Virtual Arkansas Statewide Job Fair is presented by Arkansas’ premier newspapers:

the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the El Dorado News-Times, the Texarkana Gazette, the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record, the Camden News and the Magnolia Banner News.

Job seekers can visit jobfair.arkansasonline.com to sign up. Once logged in, they can see job postings from employers across Arkansas. The site allows them to select the jobs they are interested in and see more about the company and the job position. A search function allows job seekers to narrow their job choices by location and category. New jobs are added daily.

“The virtual job fair continues to grow, with new job opportunities added to it almost every week,” Copley said. “It has been a great success. It is so convenient to just apply [for a job] from the comfort of your home anytime.”

Participating employers include the city of Little Rock, West Tree Service, National Park Medical Center, Securitas Security Services USA Inc., the Central Arkansas Development Council, Centennial Bank, SIG Sauer, Ally Financial, Smart Choice Delivery, ARcare and many more.

“These are difficult times, and unemployment is a major concern for our economy,” Copley said. “We want to do everything we can to bring job seekers and recruiters together. The Virtual Job Fair will end July 17, and we will be looking to host more job-fair options in the fall.
