MONDAY Take-Home Mythologic­al Series for Teens

CABOT — The Cabot Public Library will continue a take-home Mythologic­al Series for Teens from 5-6 p.m. at the library,

909 W. Main St. Take-home activities focused on mythologic­al creatures, including dragons, serpents, air creatures, hybrids and canines, will be available for teens ages 12 to 18. American Legion Golf Tournament

CABOT — Criswell-Robinson American Legion Post 71’s sixth annual Central Arkansas American Legion Golf Tournament will take place at the Rolling Hills Country Club, 271 Randy Beaver Drive, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The fee for the four-person scramble is $75 per person or $300 per team. A meal will be provided after play. The hole-in-one winner will receive a new 2020 Ford vehicle. Proceeds from the event will benefit children and youth, veterans and local community programs. The rain date will be July 6. CABOT — The Cabot Public Library will host one more week of online genealogy workshops from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday and from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday. Those interested in discussing genealogy and family history research can join the Zoom meeting online. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Marina and H20 Sportz & Marine will present an Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n both days at the Fairfield Bay Marina, 4350 Arkansas 330 S. On Friday, the Zac Dunlap Band will perform at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks display at dusk. Activities on Saturday will include a parade at 9:30 a.m., beginning at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church; the Indian Hills Golf Resort’s Red, White and Blue Golf Tournament; and the Fun in the Sun Event at Cool Pool, 155 Chelsea Drive. Fun in the Sun will be an outdoor pool party with lawn games, grilled food and live music. The ShotGunBil­lys will conclude the activities from 6-8 p.m. on the lake stage. SATURDAY Fireworks Extravagan­za

HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce

will present its annual Fireworks Extravagan­za at 9 p.m. Because of high lake levels and COVID-19 restrictio­ns, the fireworks will be launched from the Heber Springs Municipal Airport, not at Sandy Beach. Guests will not be allowed on the airport grounds. Informatio­n will be provided to help spectators find the best viewing areas in town. To view the fireworks from a boat, the best location is the body of water just west of the Dam Site Marina. The fireworks display will be broadcast by Timeless 106.1 FM KFFB. CALICO ROCK — The Calico Rock Visitor Center and Artisan Gift Shop will reopen Wednesday, with hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The Marketplac­e — a collection of antiques, collectibl­es and clothing boutiques on Main Street — will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Oktoberfes­t in the Bay Art Walk Participat­ion

FAIRFIELD BAY — Artists are wanted for the Oktoberfes­t in the Bay Art Walk, set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3. Robbie Miller, chairwoman of the event, said artists may rent a 10-by-12-foot booth space for $20 to display and sell their works. Setup will be outside the Fairfield Bay Conference Center. Gallery 246 Reopening

BATESVILLE — Gallery 246, at 243 E. Main St., has reopened with shorter hours and under COVID-19 precaution­s. The gallery’s hours are 2-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, with Saturday hours to be determined. Display space has been rearranged, and there is room for social distancing. The artists’ work can also be seen on the gallery’s Facebook page.

Independen­ce County Library Curbside Service

BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Library, 267 E. Main St., will serve its patrons with curbside service for the immediate future from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Library staff is following guidelines from the State Library of Arkansas, which includes holding materials in quarantine for six days after they are returned and disinfecti­ng items before returning them to shelves for checkout. Ozarka College Academic All-Star Scholarshi­ps

MELBOURNE — Arkansas Community Colleges is offering the Academic All-Star Scholarshi­p Program to Ozarka College students. Academic All-Stars will be recognized at a future ACC awards ceremony and will receive a $500 scholarshi­p to complete the final semester of their associate degree. The deadline to apply is Tuesday. The student must be an Arkansas resident, enrolled at Ozarka College, have at least of 24 credit hours toward an associate degree, complete the degree by summer 2021 and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25.
