FRIDAY AND SATURDAY Independence Day Celebration
FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Marina and H20 Sportz & Marine will present an Independence Day Celebration both days at the Fairfield Bay Marina, 4350 Arkansas 330 S. On Friday, the Zac Dunlap Band will perform at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks display at dusk. Activities on Saturday will include a parade at 9:30 a.m., beginning at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church; the Indian Hills Golf Resort’s Red, White and Blue Golf Tournament; and the Fun in the Sun event at Cool Pool,

FRIDAY JULY 5 Balloons Over Russellville
RUSSELLVILLE — Balloons Over Russellville will take place Friday through July 5. The free event, at the Russellville Soccer Complex,

SATURDAY Community Fireworks Display

Fireworks Extravaganza
HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Fireworks Extravaganza at 9 p.m. Because of high lake levels and COVID-19 restrictions, the fireworks will be launched from the Heber Springs Municipal Airport, not at Sandy Beach. Guests will not be allowed on the airport grounds. Information will be provided to help spectators find the best viewing areas in town. To view the fireworks from a boat, the best location is the body of water just west of the Dam Site Marina. The fireworks display will be broadcast by Timeless 106.1 FM KFFB. ONGOING Adult Fall Softball League Registration
RUSSELLVILLE — Registration for the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department’s fall softball league will begin July 6 and end at 5 p.m. July 17. Players may register at the Hughes Community Center from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Oktoberfest in the Bay Art Walk Participation
FAIRFIELD BAY — Artists are wanted for the Oktoberfest in the Bay Art Walk, set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3. Robbie Miller, chairwoman of the event, said artists may rent a 10-by-12-foot booth space for $20 to display and sell their works. Setup will be outside the Fairfield Bay Conference Center. Children’s Fishing Derby Postponement
RUSSELLVILLE — The annual Children’s Fishing Derby that is normally held in June has been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fairy-Tale Take-Home Craft

Fairfield Bay Library Services
FAIRFIELD BAY —The Fairfield Bay Library is closed to the public until further notice. However, e-books, audio books and magazines are available online, and modified curbside pickup is available. All requests need to be received by Tuesday so books and audio books can be labeled and ready to go. The limit is six items. At this time, the library is not checking out movies. Boat Races Postponement
HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce has postponed the World Championship Cardboard Boat Races, scheduled for July 25, until next summer. Reasons for the postponement include high lake levels and restrictions required to comply with COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. The boat races will still have a “Video Games” theme in 2021. Arkansas Country Music Awards
MAUMELLE — The Arkansas Country Music Awards will take place from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at Maumelle High School,
100 Victory Lane. Recipients of the Arkansas Country Music Awards will be announced during the redcarpet event, which will feature performances and celebrity appearances. FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Area Chamber of Commerce will have its annual Fun, Fashion and Food event from 2-5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the chamber,
365 Dave Creek Parkway. The event will include fashion for men and women of all ages, food from local restaurants and door prizes.
