ONGOING Small Works on Paper Entries

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Arts Council is accepting submission­s until July 24 for the 2021 Small Works on Paper exhibition, an annual juried art exhibit featuring the artwork of current Arkansas Artist Registry members. The exhibit will open in January 2021 at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City. Nonmembers are required to join at the registry at time of entry. The free registry is open to all visual artists 18 and older who live in Arkansas. Up to $2,000 will be available for juror-selected works, which will become part of SWOP’s permanent collection. Yard-of-the-Month Contest

CABOT — Cabot City Beautiful sponsors its Yard-of-the-Month Program, which is judged monthly through August. Calico Rock Visitor Center and Gift Shop Reopening

CALICO ROCK — The Calico Rock Visitor Center and Artisan Gift Shop has reopened, with hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The Marketplac­e — a collection of antiques, collectibl­es and clothing boutiques on Main Street — will be open from

Oktoberfes­t in the Bay Art Walk Participat­ion

FAIRFIELD BAY — Artists are wanted for the Oktoberfes­t in the Bay Art Walk, set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3. Robbie Miller, chairwoman of the event, said artists may rent a 10-by-12-foot booth space for $20 to display and sell their works. Setup will be outside the Fairfield Bay Conference Center. Gallery 246 Reopening

BATESVILLE — Gallery 246, at 243 E. Main St., has reopened with shorter hours and under COVID-19 precaution­s. The gallery’s hours are 2-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, with Saturday hours to be determined. Display space has been rearranged, and there is room for social distancing. Independen­ce County Library Curbside Service

BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Library, 267 E. Main St., will serve its patrons with curbside service for the immediate future from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. BAAC National Juried Exhibition

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council Gallery on Main is hosting its eighth annual BAAC National Juried Exhibition through Aug. 1. The exhibit consists of 21 pieces from 19 artists across the U.S. The exhibit’s juror is Eric Freeman, an American-born painter, poet, musician and photograph­er. Boat Races Postponeme­nt

HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce has postponed the World Championsh­ip Cardboard Boat Races, scheduled for July 25, until next summer. Reasons for the postponeme­nt include high lake levels and restrictio­ns required to comply with COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. The boat races will still have a Video Games theme in 2021. Lyon College Athletics Scots Spectacula­r

BATESVILLE — Lyon College Athletics and Lyon College alumni will host their second annual Lyon College Athletics Scots Spectacula­r from 6-10 p.m. July 25 at the Becknell Gymnasium. The event will include live and silent auctions, a buffet dinner and live music. Lyon College/Arkansas College student-athletes and alumni will share their stories of how their experience­s as Scots positively influenced their lives. Big Fun on the Bayou

BATESVILLE — Main Street Batesville will host its inaugural Big Fun on the Bayou from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 26 at Maxfield Park and Poke Bayou.
