Online Create Art Demonstration
RUSSELLVILLE — The Pope County Library System’s CREATE program will demonstrate the String Art Craft Kit from 3-3:30 p.m. online. The CREATE program offers teens and young adults with developmental disabilities opportunities to socialize and explore art and STEM projects. ONGOING Small Works on Paper Entries
LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Arts Council is accepting submissions until July 24 for the 2021 Small Works on Paper exhibition, an annual juried art exhibit featuring the artwork of current Arkansas Artist Registry members. The exhibit will open in January 2021 at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City. Nonmembers are required to join the registry at time of entry. The free registry is open to all visual artists 18 and older who live in Arkansas. Up to $2,000 will be available for juror-selected works, which will become part of SWOP’s permanent collection. Adult Fall Softball League Registration
RUSSELLVILLE — Registration for the Russellville Recreation and
Parks Department’s fall softball league will begin Monday and end at 5 p.m. July 17. Players may register at the Hughes Community Center from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Oktoberfest in the Bay Art Walk Participation
FAIRFIELD BAY — Artists are wanted for the Oktoberfest in the Bay Art Walk, set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3. Robbie Miller, chairwoman of the event, said artists may rent a 10-by-12-foot booth space for $20 to display and sell their works. Setup will be outside the Fairfield Bay Conference Center. Art forms accepted include oil, watercolor, acrylics, mixed media, pottery, jewelry, collage, sculpture and photography. FAIRFIELD BAY —The Fairfield Bay Library is closed to the public until further notice. However, e-books, audio books and magazines are available online, and modified curbside pickup is available. UPCOMING World Championship Cardboard
Boat Races Postponement HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce has postponed the World Championship Cardboard Boat Races, scheduled for July 25, until next summer. Reasons for the postponement include high lake levels and restrictions required to comply with COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. The boat races will still have a “Video Games” theme in 2021. Arkansas Country Music Awards Virtual Event
MAUMELLE — As a result of the Maumelle School District canceling all events on its campus for a period of time, the Arkansas Country Music Awards will not occur at Maumelle High School on Aug. 3 as scheduled. The district will instead host a fully produced virtual-event watch party at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 3 from Haxton Road Studios. Arkansas Country Music Awards recipients will be announced.
