SEARCY — Valle Horton Richmond,

-

age 90, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 5, 2020, in Searcy, Arkansas, the faithful wife of Clarence L. Richmond, Jr. for 69 years. They first met at Harding University (then College) in 1949.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brady and Ida Horton of Dallas, Texas and a brother, Donald Brady Horton of Irvine, California. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Beth Hendrix of Antoine, Robin Richmond of

Cleveland, Ohio, Melanie Roseberry of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Charles Richmond of Carrollton, Texas. She leaves six grandchildren, Carmen Clark of El Dorado, Elizabeth Smith of Searcy, Valerie Shively of Little Rock, Molly Sullivan of Avon, Ohio, Jake Roseberry of Richardson, Texas, and Mandy Craig of Union, Ohio. These in turn have presented her with 12 great-grandchildren to date.

Valle was the consummate housewife, living her life in service to her husband, her children and in turn their children. She is a joy to her church, many friends and her community in blessed ways. She enjoyed her involvement in book clubs, the Red Hat society, a reader to visually impaired individuals, as a teacher’s aide, a host to foreign exchange students, and a world traveler, cheerfully managing homelife during eight family moves to places as diverse as New York, California, Florida and places in between, finally settling in Searcy, Arkansas for the last 20 years of her life. She was truly the wife of noble character described in Proverbs 31, whose “children arise and call blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.” Most of all, she talked about Jesus as a personal friend, understanding the efficacy of God’s grace in forgiving herself and others, not having to be right all the time or perfect in belief and performance. This was the good news of the gospel she lived and shared with others, looking for perfection in the life to come.
