The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, closed Tuesday at 398.07, up 8.39.

“Stocks rallied on Tuesday as investors [moved] out of some technology shares and into energy, material, industrial holdings despite warnings from most of the Federal Reserve members that the U.S. economy will have a slower-than-expected recovery due to a surge in coronavirus cases,” said Chris Harkins, managing director at Raymond James & Associates.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
