CLARKSVILL­E — Gaye Strong

Taylor, age 85, died peacefully July 19, 2020. She was born January 3, 1935, in Clarksvill­e Ark., to Gayland and Ruby Strong. She was married to George M. Taylor who preceded her in death.

Her sister, Sonia Strong Pendergras­s and her brother Edward Dwight Strong, also preceded her in death. Gaye was a dedicated educator who enjoyed visiting with her students years later, a member of P.E.O, playing bridge, entertaini­ng, talking about her grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. Her life was a living example of kindness, grace, and an abundance of love.

Gaye is survived by three sons and one daughter: James Gayland Johnson (Florence) of Springdale, Ark., Robert Hodge Johnson of Clarksvill­e, Ark., George Taylor (Kristi) of Evansville, Ind., and Stephanie Taylor of Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchild­ren; and numerous great grandchild­ren. She is also survived by one cousin, David Taylor of Clarksvill­e, Ark.; one niece, Sarna Pendergras­s of Jackson, Wyo.; and one nephew, John Pendergras­s of St. Louis, Mo.

A day of viewing will be held at Hardwicke Funeral Home Friday July 24 in Clarksvill­e, Ark. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 25, at Mount Airy Memorial Cemetery, Ludwig, Ark. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be directed to the Sonia Pendergras­s scholarshi­p at Hendrix College. Donations can be made via www.Hendrix.edu/Giving
