Hill Sr., 96, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Little Rock, left us to be with the Lord on July 21, 2020, after recently suffering two strokes. He was born in Haywood County, Tenn., on October 6, 1923, to James Walter Hill and Gladys Overton Hill, the eldest of 5 children. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters; Francis Sledge and Barbara Faust. He was also preceded in death by wives, Gloria and Aileen. He is survived by his brothers, David Hill (Panama City, Fla.) and Van Hill (Franklin, Tenn.); his son, James H. Hill, Jr. (Betty); daughter, Nancy Keeton (Ronnie); grandchild­ren, Meredith Robinson, Hayley Keeton, Brad Hill, Hillary Scerbo, Rusty Keeton; and 13 great grandchild­ren.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs.

Jim was a proud and patriotic US Army veteran having served during World War II in France and Germany.

Jim arrived in Little Rock in 1953 opening Ball & Hill Rug Cleaners. He later opened Hill’s Carpet & Drapery, retail business, and Commercial Carpet Contractor’s.

Active in community affairs, he was a member of the Jaycees of Greater Little Rock, served as president of the National Institute of Rug Cleaners, 32nd degree Mason, President of the Optimist Club of Greater Little Rock, as a Board Chairman of Better Business Bureau of Ark., and Chairman of the Home Builders Associatio­n of Greater Little Rock.

He was an avid golfer, horse racing enthusiast, and would rather dance than eat. He loved his Westshores Retirement Center family and they loved him. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Jim will be laid to rest at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Rd., in North Little Rock, Ark. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2020. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gift to the charity of your choice
