Big Fun on the Bayou Postponeme­nt

BATESVILLE — Main Street Batesville’s inaugural Big Fun on the Bayou, which was set for today, has been postponed until Aug. 29. The event will take place at Maxfield Park and Poke Bayou. Activities will include kayak racing, children’s games, poke-salad sampling and more. The main event will be a concert featuring Trout Fishing in America in Maxfield Park. BAAC Mural Art Walk

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council has launched a self-guided mural art walk. Mural maps are available for pickup from the BAAC Gallery on Main,

226 E. Main St., anytime during the gallery’s regular hours,

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The guide features 10 murals downtown — including the most recent, Blossoming Main

Street — that were completed by the Lyon College Art Program in collaborat­ion with various artists and community partners.

Oktoberfes­t in the Bay Art Walk Participat­ion

FAIRFIELD BAY — Artists are wanted for the Oktoberfes­t in the Bay Art Walk, set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3. Robbie Miller, chairwoman of the event, said artists may rent a 10-by-12-foot booth space for $20 to display and sell their works. Setup will be outside the Fairfield Bay Conference Center. Gallery 246 Reopening

BATESVILLE — Gallery 246, at 243 E. Main St., has reopened with shorter hours and under COVID-19 precaution­s. The gallery’s hours are 2-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, with Saturday hours to be determined. Display space has been rearranged, and there is room for social distancing. The artists’ work can also be seen on the gallery’s Facebook page.

Independen­ce County Library Curbside Service

BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Library, 267 E. Main St., will serve its patrons with curbside service for the immediate future from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Library staff is following guidelines from the State Library of Arkansas, which include holding materials in quarantine for six days after they are returned and disinfecti­ng items before returning them to shelves for checkout. BAAC National Juried Exhibition

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council Gallery on Main, 226 E. Main St., is hosting its eighth annual BAAC National Juried Exhibition through Saturday. The exhibit consists of 21 pieces from 19 artists across the U.S. A virtual exhibition of the show is at batesville­areaartsco­uncil.org. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The gallery recommends wearing a mask when visiting, and hand sanitizer will be available. Cabot Lions Club Knife Raffle 2020

CABOT — The Cabot Lions Club will raffle off a hand-crafted, custom knife and sheath by Lion Kimm Hunt that is valued at approximat­ely $250. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase exams and eyeglasses for schoolchil­dren and in-need adults; to assist applicants with hearing aids and glaucoma and cataract surgeries; to provide vision screenings; and to support the Cabot Lions Scholarshi­p Fund. Purchase tickets from any Cabot Lions Club member for a donation of $5 each or $20 for five. The drawing will take place Oct. 10 at the Cabot Lions booth at CabotFest.

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Area Chamber of Commerce will have its annual Fun, Fashion and Food event from 2-5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the chamber, 365 Dave Creek Parkway. The event will include fashion for men and women of all ages, food from local restaurant­s and door prizes. LRAFB Air Show Cancellati­on

LITTLE ROCK AIR FORCE BASE — The Thunder Over the Rock air show set for Oct. 24 and 25 as been canceled as a result of continuing COVID-19 concerns. Little Rock AFB officials made the decision to cancel the air show and concurrent STEM Festival, in order to focus base resources on keeping airmen, their families and the base’s community partners safe, while also maintainin­g the base’s agile combat airlift mission. The next air show is scheduled for October 2022.
