MOUNT IDA — On Sunday, August 2nd, 2020, Willis Ervin Summitt,

faithful pastor of 31 years, passed away at the age of 91 in Mount Ida, Ark. Willis was born on March 9th, 1929 to (Belve) Ervin and Nancy Arsula (Gaston) Summitt in Sims, Ark. In July of 1949, he married Eloise Long and their loving marriage lasted until her death on March 31, 2011.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wilburn Lewis Summitt (brother), Vina Marie Gore Bissell (sister) and Alma Jean Landrum (sister).

He has lived in Mount Ida, Arkansas since 1996, where he was the pastor of Mount Ida Church of God. He had previously pastored at the Lone Valley Church of God and the Hot Springs Church of God. Willis enthusiast­ically followed his favorite baseball teams and was an avid fisherman.

Willis is survived by Donald Dale Summitt (brother); Ina Lois Summitt (sister-in-law); three nephews, Ron Gore, Rick Summitt, and Zachary Summitt; three nieces, Marsha Chambers, Nancy Summitt and Megan Summitt; two great-nephews, Tony Chambers and Will Summitt; one great-niece, Cory Summitt Hinson; and 6 great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, August 5th, 2020 10 a.m. at the Mount Ida Church of God, and will be officiated by Bro. Jeff Smith. The pallbearer­s are Rick Summitt, Derrick Summitt, Chad Summitt, Tony Chambers, Zach Summitt and Jerry Summitt. Honorary pallbearer­s are the Montgomery County Nursing Home staff.
