WILLIAM KAVANAUGH HEARD “WK”,

93 of Little Rock, passed away August 8, 2020. He was born in Roland, Ark., to Wiliam Kavanaugh Heard and Addie Spalding Heard. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Odell Orr Heard, and his brother, Keith Heard, and baby sister.

He is survived by his two sons, Dr. Kenneth Heard (Terry) of Dunwoody, Ga., and Mark Heard (Martha) of Germantown, Tenn., and daughter, Brenda Leas (Paul) of Lexington, S.C., eight grandchild­ren and 18 great-grandchild­ren.

WK graduated from Joe T Robinson High School in 1945 where he was senior class president. He enlisted into the Navy and served during WW II and the Korean War. He was a realtor early in his career, a Boy’s Club Little League coach for more than 20 years, a life-long member of the Lions Club Internatio­nal where he served as club president, District Governor for two separate terms, board member of Arkansas Enterprise­s for the Blind, and Director of the Arkansas Eye and Kidney Bank until he retired. He spent many years organizing the reunions for all the graduating classes of Joe T Robinson.

Graveside service with Military Honors will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Highway 5 North at Alexander Road, Alexander, Ark. Honorary Pallbearer­s will be Paul Leas, Brad Furlow, Travis Northcutt, Sam Martin, David Gregory, and Owen Curry.
