87, passed away in the early hours of August 9, 2020. He was born June 17, 1933, in Saint Petersburg, Fla., in an old red house to the late Edwin Sapp and Selma (Letzring) Sapp. Stan graduated from Vilonia High School in 1951, enlisted in the Army in October of 1951, and married his high-school sweetheart, Shirley (Gunter) Sapp, in 1952. He retired from the military after 21 years (1951-1972), serving as military intelligen­ce in both Korea and Vietnam, and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars. After the military, he then worked for Stone Container, from which he retired from in 1991. He then began his final career as a handyman shortly after and never retired again.

Stan’s many other accomplish­ments included hand-building a cabin in Greer’s Ferry with his wife, Shirley, where he hosted a yearly get-together known as “The Pig Roast” for over 20 years; learning five languages, six if you include profanity; and running a small property empire in Jacksonvil­le, Ark.

Stan was also preceded in death by his siblings, Melvin Letzring, Paul Sapp, Garvin Sapp, Lowell Sapp, and Carlynn Joseph. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley Sapp; his siblings, Elwin “Skip” (Carol) Sapp, Emma Lou (Paul) McLaughlin; his children, Michael (Jackie) Sapp, Linda (Robert) Ulrich, Sandra (Joseph) Cameron; his grandchild­ren, Eric Ulrich, Sean (Rebecca) Ulrich, Chris Sapp, Mark (Mary) Sapp, David Sapp, Robert (Camille Wood) Bennett, Matt (Stephanie) Sapp, Caitlin Cameron, Cole Cameron; and great-grandchild­ren Alaina Ulrich, Isabella Ulrich, Zain Ulrich, Arianna Ulrich, Elijah Ulrich, Marenka “Minie” Sapp, Marek Sapp, Mikolaj Sapp. He also leaves behind many treasured friends and enemies, including six foreign nations that still consider him an enemy combatant to this day.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2020. also at the funeral home.
