passed away peacefully in Little Rock, Arkansas, on August 8, 2020. Born October 1, 1925, to the late Clarence Amos Bryant and Ada Mason Bryant Stroud. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Willie Hubert McCoy, and two sisters, Maxine Polk and Nadine Ridgley.

She is survived by a daughter, Lynda Stell Spencer, of Fayettevil­le, Arkansas; two grandchild­ren, Stuart (Nick Bradford) Spencer of Little Rock, and Stephanie (John) Spencer Lowry; and two great-grandchild­ren, John Mason Lowry, Jr. and Lauren Stephanie Lowry of Fayettevil­le; three sisters, Charlene Looney of Little Rock, Mary Jo (Robert) Cline of Maumelle, Arkansas, and Jimmie Lee Smith of Conway, Arkansas.

She was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Lady Marines. She received a B.S.E. and M.S.E. and hours toward a PhD in Education from Arkansas State Teacher’s College, later the University of Central Arkansas. She taught Social Studies in Morrilton Junior High School, was a social worker at Arkansas Children’s Colony in Conway, later transferri­ng to State Rehabilita­tion Services as a counselor and social worker, then to disability determinat­ion for Social Security in Little Rock, where she retired.

Graveside services will be held by Griffin Leggett Healy & Roth at 10 a.m. on August 15, 2020, at Forest Hills Cemetery at 10200 AR-5, Alexander, Arkansas, and presided over by Nick Hamilton. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, AARP Chapter 34, or to a charity of your choice. Due to the COVID-19 situation, face coverings must be worn and social distancing observed.
