SAMUEL CHARLES “CHARLIE” STEWART,

75, of Little Rock, gained his heavenly wings August 22, 2020. He was born to Jim and Daisy Stewart in College Station, Texas, October 14, 1944. Charlie attended Oklahoma Baptist University where he was a multi-sport athlete and was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame. Charlie went on to play semi-profession­al baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals organizati­on from 1966-1971. He went on to develop a passion for the sport of bowling and was a longtime member of the Central Arkansas USBC, where he was also inducted into the Hall of Fame. Charlie had a successful 28-year career with the state of Arkansas as a systems analyst. Charlie was well-known for his genuine heart, kind nature, and fierce competitiv­eness.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia L. Stewart; daughter, Lyndsey Pighee (BJ); son, Shamal (Michelle); grandkids, Michael, Mikael, Mia, Myles; godchildre­n Shayla, Kareem (deceased); sister Billie Lee; brother James Stewart (Claude) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Walk-through visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2020, 10-4. Funeral service will be Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 2 p.m. Live-streaming will be available on Ruffin & Jarret Facebook page. Face masks required. Observe physical distancing – seating will be limited. Services entrusted to Ruffin & Jarret Funeral Home, 1200 Chester Street, Little Rock. Interment to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
