64 of Little Rock, passed August 24, 2020, born June 19, 1956. Was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Jenkins-Williams; his father Willie Charles; and his sister, Sandra CharlesScott. He leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Ronnie (La Rita) Owens of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Connie Charles of Houston, Texas, and Carlotta (Carlas) Sadler of North Little Rock, Ark. Though he did not have any children of his own he shared a special unbreakable bond with his nieces, Maia Moore of Tampa, Fla., and Leandra Scott of North Little Rock, Ark. Also, his fiancé, Janice Norwood of Little Rock, Ark. He very dearly loved and cared for his 9 nieces and 2 nephews, serenading them all, so no matter how near or far the distance, they would know the comfort of his beautiful voice; he was their songbird. Don was known for his witty spirit, infectious smile, along with his love for family and friends. He was a dedicated employee of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in downtown Little Rock. In the 1970s, he was a singer in the group called, “The Sounds of Little Rock” and his love for his hometown Little Rock, Ark., never waivered. Don would sing no matter the band, group, or stage. He was truly one of a kind, and will be missed by his family, friends, and the community where he was a beloved and familiar face to us all.
