Hot Springs band cancels 2 concerts

The Hot Springs Concert Band has decided to cancel its Oct. 18 and Dec. 10 concerts after the covid-19 pandemic prevented members from being able to congregate for practice.

Publicity chairperson Sandi Hyett said the two concerts draw nearly 650 attendees each.

A band news release stated that the safety of the band members and concert attendees are of “utmost importance,” but it also says other factors were involved in the decision.

“Directives issued by the Arkansas Department of Health for community bands have made rehearsals and performances almost an impossibility, and only outdoor rehearsals are recommended at this time.”
