USSERY (Garland County), 1910: Students and teachers posed before the two-story, unpainted, rural school. The teasing message to William McGuire in Oklahoma reads, “I imagine you would like to be here now. Your girl is at Will R’s this week I’ve heard. Hope you have mastered that besetting sin of yours & have a clear conscience, as a receipt for same. Will, Bob & Jim all got married but Lonnie is still enjoying single cussedness.”
