CABOT — Thelma Mae Winkles,

82, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020. She was born January 17, 1938, in Tioga, W. Va., to the late Arden and Bertha Underwood Tracy. Thelma proudly served her country in the United States Air Force. During her time in the Air Force, she moved to Abilene, Texas, where she met her husband, Dale. They moved to Cabot in 1971. Thelma was very sports-minded and really enjoyed basketball. She also enjoyed playing bingo, going to Tu

nica, and playing poker wherever she could. Thelma also enjoyed reading romance novels, the Star, and the National Enquirer. She was an avid crossword puzzler. You could always find her as the opposing viewpoint in a good debate. Thelma was a strong woman that loved her family dearly. Her family is saddened, but hold on to the hope and promise that Jesus brings of an everlastin­g life in Heaven. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; her husband, Dale Winkles; and her son, Ronald Emmert.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Russell (Andrea) Emmert of Fort Worth, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Emmert of Little Rock, Ark.; two granddaugh­ters, Amanda (Brandon) Monroe and Stephanie (Bradley) Barksdale; seven great-grandchild­ren, Brady, Ellis, Witten, Berkley, Lacey, Russell and Patton; siblings, Leo and Cleo Tracy; and many extended family members and friends.
