“Movie: Pet Sematary”

This second adaptation of the Stephen King novel stars Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz as a Boston couple who pull up stakes and relocate with their children to rural Maine and a house next to a mysterious pet cemetery with apparent regenerati­ve powers. John Lithgow also stars in this 2019 horror tale.

Writer/director Václav Marhoul’s adaptation of Jerzy Kosiński’s 1965 novel follows the story of Joska (Petr Kotlár), a young Eastern European Jewish boy who encounters many different characters and witnesses or experience­s many different cruelties from the ravages war and anti-Semitism during World War II. Nina Sunevic, Alla Sokolova and Stanislav Bilyi also star in this 2019 war drama.

“Darkness: Those Who Kill” (Oct. 19, Acorn TV)

From Denmark comes this crime drama about the disappeara­nce of a Copenhagen teen and the detective who uses classic investigat­ive techniques and psychologi­cal profiling in the hopes of solving the case and preventing other abductions. Kenneth M. Christense­n and Natalie Madueno head the cast of this series that is in Danish with English subtitles.
