CONWAY — Mary Sue Tadlock

passed away Friday, October 16, 2020. She was born January 13, 1932 in Mize, Miss., to E.M. and Lottie (Martin) Maddox, the second of three daughters. Sue attended schools in Mississipp­i, received a Bachelor of Science in 1953 from Mississipp­i State College for Women (now Mississipp­i University for Women and Men) and a Master of Science in 1965 from Texas A&M. She was one of the first women to receive a graduate degree from Texas A&M. Sue spent 35 years in education as a classroom teacher, elementary counselor, psychologi­cal examiner, evaluation specialist and coordinato­r of the achievemen­t testing program in the Little Rock School District (LRSD). She was a 39 year member of Phi Delta Kappa Internatio­nal, a profession­al organizati­on for educators. Sue also served as a member of committees for the Arkansas State Department of Education on Instructio­n and Testing.

In July 1993, she retired from the LRSD and enjoyed traveling to Europe and throughout the US, being with friends and family and cooking, sewing and playing card games. Her life centered on home and family especially her grandchild­ren who called her Mimi. She instilled love and kindness and strong spiritual and work values reminding them to “Make every day count”, “Be goal-oriented” and “Do something, don’t just sit there”.

Sue was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Little Rock, Ark., 1967-2019 and served in many areas including Chairman of the Board-Board of Trustees, Sunday School teacher and Youth counselor. She and her husband joined Salem United Methodist Church in Conway in 2020.

Survived by Bill C. Tadlock, husband for over 72 years, their four daughters Brenda Wright (Rusty), Becky Ross (Tim), Beth Jain (Ati) and Barbara Hobby (Russ), 12 grandchild­ren Justin Wright (Jessica), Jonathan Wright (Sarah), Kristen Edwards (Brian), Sean Rhodes (Rachel), Matthew Rhodes, TK Smith (Jennifer), Brittany Rhodes (Mitch Peterson fiancé), Lauren Ross, Sarah Ross, William Ross, Vijay Jain and Maya Jain; six great-grandchild­ren Carthan and Charlotte Rhodes, Elle and Wilson Wright and Emerson and Chloe Wright; a sister, Jimmie Frierson and brother-in-law Bob Tadlock (Jane) and a host of extended family and friends, all who will miss her dearly.

A Service in Celebratio­n of Sue’s life will be held for family at Salem Methodist Church in Conway, Ark., on Wednesday, October 21.
