FERDINAND BEACH, Fla. — Mr. Henry Nelson Conway, Jr.,

age 98, of Fernandina Beach, Fla. (formerly of Little Rock), passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Osprey Village.

He was born in Little Rock, Ark., to the late Henry Nelson and Lucille Iseman Conway.

Mr. Conway served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. After the war, he spent ten years in the Philippine­s working for the Veterans Administra­tion. Upon receiving his second Bachelor’s Degree from the American Institute for Foreign Trade, he then relocated to Monrovia, Liberia, where he worked for the Internatio­nal Bank of Washington. He resided there for over twenty years, managing a bank, an insurance company and the corporate formation and ship registrati­on business for the Republic of Liberia.

Upon moving stateside, Mr. Conway was appointed EVP of the Internatio­nal Bank of Washington, managing a number of banks in foreign countries along with the Liberian ship registrati­on business. He and his wife, Rowena, moved to Fernandina Beach, Fla., from McLean, Va., when he retired.

Mr. Conway was instrument­al in organizing reunions for his brothers in arms every year up until his health started to decline. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 62 years, Rowena Ann Conway.

He leaves behind his wife, Carolyn Mobley Tyndall Conway of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; his son, Henry Nelson Conway, III and his wife Melissa Aston Conway of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchild­ren, Rebecca Ann Conway and Grant Sevier Conway and his wife Rachel Jean all of Charlotte, N.C.

Mr. Conway’s family will hold a private graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Little Rock. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, RuebelFune­ralHome.com
