Jean Tate, 78, of Arlington, TX passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. She was born on December 13, 1941, in Lexa, Ark., the daughter of Mary Reed-Whitehead.

Ms. Tate was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She loved laughing, spreading joy, and spending time with her family, along with muscle cars, movies, and collecting. She adored her mother, brother, niece, and godchildre­n and believed that the world could be a better place if the littlest among us were shown love, care and respect, always embodying that perspectiv­e. She was employed for over thirty-five years at UAMS Nutrition Services and in multiple positions over twenty years at Covenant Presbyteri­an Church.

Ms. Tate is preceded in death by her brother, James Coffee. She is survived by her loving mother, Mary Whitehead; niece, Ella Dickerson-Owen; nephew-in-law, Dr. Charles Owen, Jr.; great nephew, David Owen; uncle, Edward Reed; and multiple godchildre­n - Tori Robinson-Pippin, Eddie Robinson, Jr., and TaNessa Robinson. She will be sorely missed by these and multiple step-siblings and friends.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, October 29th at 11am. Masks are required. Social spacing is observed. Family and friends will meet at Ruffin & Jarrett funeral home, 1200 S. Chester St., Little Rock, Ark., 72202. They then will proceed to Rest in Peace Memorial Gardens, 6425 Memorial Gardens Rd, Hensley Ark., 72065.
