STUTTGART — Dorothy Ann House Grace, 93,

of Crestpark Nursing Home-DeWitt, formerly of Stuttgart, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020. She was born May 14, 1927, to Edd and Maude McCollum House, where she was one of six children.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Stuttgart and a charter member of the Little Rock chorus of Sweet Adeline Inc. for over 30 years. She traveled to many states in competition with the Top of the Rock Chorus.

Dorothy graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1945. After graduation, she accepted a job as a singer at the Santa Rita and the Pioneer Hotel in Tucson, Ariz. At this time she met her future husband, Captain Manuel R. Grace of the Army Air Force. They were married June 18, 1946, and she became a military wife and traveled throughout the United States during his military career and with an extended duty in Japan for two and one-half years. During this time, they had six children, Nancy, Elena, Terry, Karen, Evan and after five girls he finally got his son Richard.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Manuel E. Grace; daughters, Nancy Grace Plocher and Elena Grace Mears; son, Richard M. Grace; son-in-law, Lyle Plocher; brother, Allen House; and sisters, Gladys House Robbins, Ruth House Mock and Margaret Frances House.

She is survived by daughters, Mary T. (Terry) Grace Strabala (Tommy) of Stuttgart, Karen Grace Isom (Teddy) of DeWitt, Evan Grace of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Carol Legate Grace of Settle, Wash.; sister, Kathy House Swint (Rayford) of Stuttgart; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews’ and several extended family members.

While a resident of Crestpark Nursing Home, she was known as “the Puzzle Lady”. She enjoyed putting puzzles together with friends, family and complete strangers who also had a passion for puzzles. She also enjoyed drawing and painting and enjoyed designing the monthly bulletin board at Crestpark. She also enjoyed watching the Razorback football games with her good friend, Mr. Doug Manchester Sr.

A graveside service is 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
