In our best interests

Rather than telling other countries how to run their business, Donald Trump and his “senior advisers” should be working on a long-overdue plan to abate covid-19. Trump says covid will go away Nov. 4. This is another of his lies. Instead of concentrating on a covid plan, Trump spends his time holding political rallies and playing golf. Also, he and his “advisers” help Israel and others in the Middle East run their business, and he voices belligerent threats that Egypt may blow up the dam Ethiopia is building on the Blue Nile. These threats jeopardize a long-standing partnership between Ethiopia and the USA. He continues to destroy relationships with our allies while praising thugs and crooks in other countries.

For his own political gain, he has packed the conservative Supreme Court with his latest appointment. He is inciting evangelicals and other anti-abortionists to scream to strike down laws which permit abortion. Some of these same people scream about taking away their rights when governors and mayors mandate mask-wearing, which helps save lives. These same people also vociferously support death-penalty laws. My question to these people: How do you justify your position on these three different “right to life” issues? When you try to legislate personal beliefs, conscience and self-determination, you then start down a slippery slope.

Given a second term, I believe Trump will finish turning the USA into an authoritarian state, which is what all other dictators and authoritarian bosses want. We, the people, will then have no rights.

Vote for democracy; vote for Biden/Harris. They are decent, smart people who have a real plan which is in the best interest of the people of the USA, not Trump’s self-interest. LOUISE HENDERSON
