- Flossie Lucille Mathews

Flossie Lucille Mathews Eubanks, age 89, of Pine Bluff, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020. Born November 20, 1930, at Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of the late James Floyd Mathews and Lucille Victoria Duncan Mathews. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1948.

Mrs. Eubanks was first and foremost a homemaker, but had worked as a telephone operator at Southweste­rn Bell Telephone from 1951-1956. She was a longtime member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school.

Her husband, William T. “Bill” Eubanks, preceded her in death on August 1, 2002. They were married on November 7, 1956, at Pine Bluff. She was also predecease­d by four brothers, Albert F. “Pete” Mathews, Edward L. Mathews, James Foister Mathews, and Robert J. Mathews; and a sister, Lois Jean Owens.

Survivors i nclude a daughter, Karan Foust of Pine Bluff; a son, William T. Eubanks, Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchild­ren; and six great-grandchild­ren.

Graveside services will be Thursday, November 5, 2020, 11 a.m., at Prosperity Cemetery in Cleveland County, with Brother John Mooney officiatin­g. All CDC Guidelines concerning Covid-19 will be followed. Arrangemen­ts are by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Almarieda Harris Hyatt

Almarieda Harris Hyatt, 91, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020. She was born July 1, 1929, to the late Ed and Ethel Rodgers Harris, in Cleveland County, Ark. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Odell Hyatt; one daughter, Deione Kugler; and two brothers, Kenneth Harris and Rodgers Harris. Almarieda is survived by one daughter, Gail Saffold (Bill); one son, Mark Hyatt (Chris); one son-in-law, John Kugler; six grandchild­ren, nine great-grandchild­ren, and special family friend, Sharon Johnson. She was known as Mamama and Grandmama.

Almarieda was educated in Woodlawn, married Odell Hyatt, on November 1, 1947, in Fordyce, and devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church, Eastern Star Chapter 421 and the Strumming Seniors Band. Almarieda loved music. Growing up she played the piano as her dad lead in gospel singings all over Arkansas. She continued playing the piano throughout her adult life along with the ukulele, fiddle and guitar. Later in life, she played the melodeon as arthritis prevented her from playing her favorite, the piano. Almarieda loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids, and was heard saying more than once “I started it all”. She was a fun, kind and giving person who made many lifelong friends.

Clarence Gordon Kendall

Clarence Gordon Kendall, III, age 63, of Pine Bluff, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2020, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital, in Little Rock, Ark. He was born November 30, 1956, in Bermuda to Christine Ferguson Kendall and the late Clarence Gordon Kendall, Jr.

He was a maintenanc­e profession­al and was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Kendall; and a sister, Kathy Kendall. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hendrix Kendall of Pine Bluff; his mother, Christine Ferguson Kendall of Monticello; two sons, Christophe­r Kendall of Pine Bluff, and Brian Kendall of South Bend, Ind; three daughters, Laurie Stephens of Little Rock, Francey Murdock of Pine Bluff and Sandy Jones of Pine Bluff; one brother, Paul Kendall of Madison, Ala; two sisters, Margaret Kendall of Little Rock and Sherry Jones of Crossett; nine grandchild­ren and four great-grandchild­ren.

Funeral service following Covid-19 guidelines will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel, with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. A viewing will be from 12 noon-2:00 p.m., preceding the funeral service. Online guestbook at www.stephenson­dearman.com.

Shelly AmandaYoun­g Roberts

Shelly Amanda Young Roberts, age 42, of Rison went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She passed away after a long battle with hydrocepha­lus from birth, which she struggled with complicati­ons for many years. Now she will be healthy and pain-free forever. She was born September 19, 1978, to T. Mark and Debra “Debbie” Gavin Young in Warren, Ark. She was their only child. She attended school at Rison graduating in 1997 and was an Elementary Education Graduate of UAM in 2001. She taught 3rd grade at L.L. Owen Elementary School in Pine Bluff and Rison Elementary. She was a member of Bethel #2 Missionary Baptist Church of Herbine, where she was raised. She enjoyed helping with Bible School and Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her parents; her loving husband, Brian Leland Roberts, whom she married June 6, 1998; two beautiful daughters, Anna Beth and Julie Amanda Roberts. Her maternal grandparen­ts, J.W. and Pat Gavin of Herbine; her paternal grandmothe­r, Thelma Young Hays of Rye, and the late Floyd Dale Young; her in-laws, Donnie and Sharron Roberts of Rison; her Aunt Donna and Uncle Wilton Johnston.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Prosperity Cemetery in Herbine, with Bro. Wade Peddy officiatin­g. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all attendees will be required to wear a face covering at the cemetery.
