■ Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the 42-year-old president of Ukraine, announced he has tested positive for the coronaviru­s, saying, “There are no lucky people in the world for whom covid-19 does not pose a threat,” and adding that he’ll self-isolate.

■ Gilbert Monzon, 36, a Coral Springs, Fla., police sergeant accused of posting offensive TikTok videos, including one featuring a song asking President Donald Trump to send Mexicans back to Mexico, was suspended without pay and will undergo 40 hours of racial bias and sensitivit­y training.

■ Kimberly Ragsdale, 47, accused of repeatedly pretending to be an FBI agent to score free fast-food meals in Rockmart, Ga., and threatenin­g to arrest restaurant workers if they didn’t serve her, was charged with impersonat­ing a police officer, authoritie­s said.

■ Gerald Byers, 62, elected by voters in Dona Ana County, N.M., as the first Black district attorney in the state, said his office will “focus on the mission of serving the people and pursuing justice,” adding, “Anything else is secondary.”

■ Charmaine McGuffey, 63, who said she was fired from her job as the first female major in the Hamilton County, Ohio, sheriff ’s office for being a lesbian and calling attention to cases involving excessive force against inmates, was elected sheriff after defeating the incumbent in an April primary and another candidate in last week’s election.

■ Cory Klocek, hunting in East Bethel, Minn., had just shot a “beautiful 10-point buck” when he spotted a 3-foot alligator in a nearby pond and, after calling state wildlife officials, got permission to take the gator, which he said will be paired with the buck in a “fun taxidermy piece.”

■ Amaury Abreu, 34, a New York City police officer accused of serving as a lookout for drug trafficker­s who smuggled hundreds of pounds of cocaine into the U.S., was arrested on conspiracy counts, federal prosecutor­s said.

■ Brandon Hughes, the Lee County, Ala., prosecutor, was indicted on five felony charges accusing him of using his office to illegally hire his three children and of conspiring to steal a pickup using a search warrant, authoritie­s said.

■ Basim Shannon, 60, who closed his Laurel, Md., barbershop in March because of the coronaviru­s and then was injured in an August motorcycle accident, called it a blessing when a former customer offered to renovate his shop, free of charge, while he recovers.
