SPARKMAN — Gwen Pennington Diemer,

age 86, of the Rosedale Community in East Clark County, passed from this life on Tuesday November 10, 2020, to join her heavenly Father after injuries she suffered in a car accident. She was born on December 21, 1933, in Dallas County the only child of the late Odus Ray and Henrietta Gilliam Pennington. Gwen was a graduate of Sparkman High School, Henderson State University and held a Master’s Degree from Delta State University. She was a retired school teacher in the Lakeside School District in Lake Village, Ark. where she taught for 30 years.

Gwen was an avid bridge player, a life long Democrat and a proud member of the Clark County Democratic Party. She was a devoted advocate for animals and all creatures great and small. Gwen volunteere­d at the Clark County Humane Society from 1992 until her passing. She never turned a stray animal away. Gwen was a poll worker during elections and will be missed by those who know and love her. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 64 years, Dale Diemer.

Gwen is survived by two daughters, Katherine Diemer Finnegan and her husband Bill of East Clark County and Tracy Diemer Teer and her husband Jerry of Hazen, one grandson, Jared Teer of Hazen, three special cousins, Larry Pennington, Paula Mounts and Susie Hillman.

No services are planned at this time due to COVID-19.
