EL DORADO — Winston Lovett

was born January 8, 1932, to Ivory and Exes Lovett in Strong, Ark. At a very early age, Winston accepted Christ as his Savior, and united with the Curry Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Strong, Ark.

In 1950, Winston graduated from Gardner High School in Strong, Ark., After high school, he always knew that he wanted to be a repairman for his community. His entreprene­urship started early in life as he was a carpenter, plumber, and electricia­n. He also held employment with Prescolite, Dr. Rushing, Strong School District, and El Dorado School District in maintenanc­e. He was known as a man of integrity and honesty. God game him the gift to become an expert in his field. He was also known for being a quiet, gentle, but strong and courageous, man who loved the Lord, his family, and his church. Winston served as a steward and on the usher board for many years at Curry Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church before his health began to fail.

Winston served as Worshipful Master of the Shady Grove Lodge #17 in Strong, Ark., for many years, and the El Dorado Consistory-32nd Degree in El Dorado, Ark.

In 1953, Winston united in holy matrimony to the late Lou Nora Daniels Lovett, and to this union five children were born, and in later years he married the late Pearline O’Gwin Lovett and gained five bonus children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, Patrick Lovett, O’Dell O’Gwin; six brothers, Robert Lovett, Leodis Lovett, Jeff Lovett, Ware Lovett, Ceola Lovett, Jewel Lovett; two sisters, Ola B. Gaston, Retha Evans; stepmother, Reba Lovett; and his godmother, Shirley Rogers; two grandsons, Stefaro Harris, Greg Ford, Jr.; one great-granddaugh­ter, Jayden Smith.

Winston transition­ed from the life on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Hudson Nursing Home in El Dorado, Ark.

His precious memories will be cherished by his children, five daughters, Deadre Lovett of El Dorado, Ark., Nekita Lowery of Little Rock, Ark., Voncill Lovett Cooper (Ruey) of Huttig, Ark., Catherine O’Gwin and Virginia O’Gwin, both of Strong, Ark.; four sons, Andre Lovett (Donna) of Huttig, Ark., William Ray O’Gwin of Strong, Ark., Charles O’Gwin (Tammy) of El Dorado, Ark., and Orell O’Gwin (Barbara) of Portland, Ore.; six brothers, Billy Frank Lovett (Evelyn), Prentice Lovett, Clark Lovett, all of Strong, Ark., Jimmy Lovett (Doris) of Spring Valley, Calif., Wardell Lovett (Evelyn) of Union City, Calif., and Billy Reddick (Janice) of Warren, Ark. He also leaves 25 grandchild­ren, 45 great-grandchild­ren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
