NLR School Board picks new officers
The North Little Rock School Board named new leadership and welcomed two new board members at a meeting Tuesday.
The board elected Cindy Temple as president for 202021 and named Rochelle Redus as vice president.
Dorothy Williams, the former president, was selected as School Board parliamentarian.
The board also welcomed Angela Person West, who won her election against Lizbeth Huggins, and Jon “J.T.” Zakrzewski, who ran unopposed in the election.
Center sets event for local vendors
The North Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau announced Thursday that its welcome center will host a Small Business Saturday event Saturday.
The event that will be held at 600 Main St., Suite 120, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The North Little Rock Welcome Center will have giveaways from local restaurants and hotels. Discounts will be available all day from local vendors such as: Bang-Up Betty, Ozark Nuts, Aromatique, Fischer’s Honey, Robbi’s Salsa, Wicked Mix and Rock City Outfitters.
Customers can shop instore or virtually on the bureau’s Facebook page.
Masks will be required, there will be hand sanitizer available upon entry, as well as other “sanitation protocols” for in-person shoppers, bureau marketing director Stephanie Slagle said in a news release.
“Besides bringing awareness to our store, which heavily focuses on North Little Rock and Arkansas-made products, we want to use this opportunity to highlight some of our North Little Rock tourism partners, most of which are also small, local businesses hit hard by the pandemic,” Slagle’s statement read.
Argenta theater sets virtual benefit
The Argenta Community Theater is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a virtual benefit Dec. 10.
The event, called “Encore for ACT, An Evening of What Matters Most,” will have holiday cabaret-style performances from Drew Jansen and Jimmy Martin. There will also be an online auction and a toast to the Argenta Community Theater.
Tickets can be found on the theater’s website for $25 for general admission, $75 for the VIP Toast ticket and $250 for VIP family ticket. The $75 ticket comes with champagne and dessert for two, and the $250 ticket comes with a family-style Italian meal and wine for four.
