POWER RANKINGS

-

1. Iowa State (6-2): The Cyclones are slowly inching toward a spot in the Big 12 championship game thanks to running back Breece Hall. Hall, the Big 12’s leading rusher, eclipsed 100 yards for the eighth consecutive game when he rushed for 135 yards and a pair of scores on 15 carries in a beatdown of Kansas State.

2. Oklahoma (6-2): The Sooners are hitting their stride. Oklahoma’s five-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the Big 12. Oklahoma toyed with Oklahoma State in the latest rendition of Bedlam, beating Little Brother by 28 points. The defense is playing better than it ever has in the Lincoln Riley era. Oklahoma State averaged 2.8 yards per carry in the loss.

3. Texas (5-2): Tom Herman’s program missed a chance to pad stats and build momentum into the upcoming showdown with Iowa State when Kansas was forced to postpone. A coaching search might begin behind the scenes if Texas loses at home to the Cyclones.

4. Oklahoma State (5-2): Oklahoma State has lost two of its last three games after starting the year 4-0. The offensive line is bad, and QB Spencer Sanders was forced out of a game with injury for the second time in 2020.

5. West Virginia (5-3): West Virginia can play spoiler in the home stretch of the Big 12 season with games against Oklahoma and Iowa State remaining on the schedule.

6. Kansas State (4-4): The Wildcats are on a three-game losing streak after the recent thumping at Iowa State. Kansas State is being outscored 102-28 over that span. A respite is on the horizon with a trip to Waco to face a Baylor squad that is also struggling to score points.

7. Texas Tech (3-5): Head coach Matt Wells must figure out the quarterback position before the Red Raiders can make a real run in the Big 12. An upset is possible in Stillwater this weekend with two weeks to prepare for a wounded Oklahoma State squad.

8. TCU (3-4): Kansas is the only team in the Big 12 averaging fewer points than TCU. Despite that, the Horned Frogs are 2-2 in their last four with Kansas on Saturday. Remember to check on any of your friends and family that decide to watch that game.

9. Baylor (1-5): If things weren’t bad enough in Waco, Baylor has lost three commitments from the 2021 recruiting class over the past 10 days.

10. Kansas (0-7): Kansas is now 0-7 on the season and 0-1 against the pandemic after postponing against Texas.
