KATHERINE DUNBAR GIPSON,

born in Pine Bluff, Ark., August 7, 1936, to the late Curtis Dunbar and Virginia Woods, transition­ed from this life on November 26, 2020, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. Katherine married the late Willie James Gipson, Jr. in 1954, and to this union, four children were born, the eldest of which, Gregory Gipson, Sr. preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Omi Dunbar.

Mother Gipson accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Gospel Temple M. B. Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees and Mother’s Board.

Katherine received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Baptist College in 1970 and a Masters of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Ouachita Baptist University.

Mrs. Gipson served as an educator in the Pulaski County Special School District for more than 30 years, until her retirement from Pinewood Elementary School in 1997.

Left to cherish her memory, are three devoted children; Rosalyn Pruitt (Timothy), William Gipson (Pamela), and Rex Gipson (Lewonda); a daughter-in-law, Vern McKinney Gipson; 11 grandchild­ren; 10 great-grandchild­ren; a sister-in-law, Mattie Gibson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m., Friday, December 4, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock. Private Funeral Services and Burial will be Saturday, December 5, 2020. We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor visitation to 50 guests at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
