BEEBE — Cecil Lee Cheevers,

-

age 87, of Beebe passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his home. He was born August 16, 1933 in Fayetteville, Ark., to the late Edward Lee and Bessie Cheevers. Cecil will be lovingly missed for his dry sense of humor and downto-Earth personality. He was a man of little words but with enough time was able to earn everyone’s love and respect. In his spare time, Cecil enjoyed golfing, fishing, and taking in Mother Nature’s beauty.

Cecil retired from the United States Air Force in 1983 as a CMSGT. He proudly served his country as a flight engineer during the Vietnam War, earning himself the distinguished flying cross and bronze star medal for his acts of heroism during that time. In his final days here on Earth, he told his daughters that he wished he could fly in the Air Force one last time.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Laymon; sister-in-law, Donna Cheevers; and brothers-in-law, R.D. McClelland and Harold Beach.

Left to cherish his memory include his children, Deborah (Dennis) Crabill of Goodyear, Ariz., Christine (Darryl) Bailey and Brenda (John) Bagshaw, both of Beebe, and James Cheevers of Cabot; siblings, Geneva McClelland of Fayetteville, Dortha Beach and Russell Cheevers, both of Greenland; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland, Ark. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Arrangements by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.
