Jeanne Tillou Simmons, age 99, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, December 14, 2020.

Born May 21, 1921, in Elmira, N. Y., Jeanne was the only child of Dr. Donald Joseph Tillou and Ada Woodard Tillou. She graduated from Elmira High School in 1939 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Elmira College in 1945.

She married Dr. Calvin Simmons in Memphis, Tenn., on September 16, 1944. Dr. Simmons predecease­d her on May 25, 2002.

A resident of Pine Bluff since 1952, Mrs. Simmons was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Pine Bluff, and a 50-plus year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She served as office manager for Dr. Simmons medical practice for a number of years. She was affectiona­tely called “Nana” and “Gaga” by her grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. She enjoyed her Bridge Club and participat­ing in outdoor activities such as water skiing, camping, fishing and family reunions.

Survivors include her children, daughter Jeanne Verlenden, son John Simmons (Della), son Donald Simmons (Mari); six grandchild­ren, John Verlenden, Ashley Simmons Perry and husband Robert, Andy Simmons, Taylor Simmons, Patrick Simmons, and Neil Simmons; and great-grandchild­ren, Knox Perry, Ada Grace Perry, Lucy Perry, and Annie Perry.

Due to Covid guidelines private family only funeral services will be held on January 9 at 2 p.m., at Grace Episcopal Church in Pine Bluff.
