EDMOND, Okla. — Mary Louise Pendleton,

resident of Villagio of Bradford Assisted Living, Edmond, Okla., and formerly of Enid, Okla., went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2020.

Mary Lou was born September 22, 1925, in Fullerton, Calif., to Frank Armstrong Treadwell and Ruby Esmay Treadwell. In 1934, she moved with her family to Siloam Springs, Ark., where her father was a member of the faculty of John Brown University.

She passed peacefully with family by her side on December 20, 2020, at the age of 95.

She married Rev. O. Edmund Pendleton on December 19, 1943, in Siloam Springs, Ark. Her husband preceded her in death June 6, 2002. She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband for 58 1/2 years. She had two loving and beloved sisters, Ruth C. Crenshaw of Lubbock, Texas, and Barbara A. McCartney of Gentry, Ark., both of whom preceded her in death.

Music and ministry was the center of their life. She embraced her role as pastor’s wife throughout her life that took her family to many locations outside of Okla., including North Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Hot Springs, Ark., as well as Baytown and Houston, Texas.

Mary Lou retired in 1990 from the Phillips University Seminary library, Enid, Okla., where she had worked for seven years. She served as Christian Women’s Fellowship Regional President in Arkansas for two years and a short term as Regional Moderator of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Arkansas.

She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Rev. Dennis F. Pendleton and wife, Dr. Barbara Porter of Colorado Springs, Colo., E. Michael Pendleton and wife, Sandra, of Norman, Okla.,, David R. Pendleton and wife, Kathleen, of Edmond, Okla., and daughter Linda L. Petersen and husband, Keith, of Little Rock, Ark.; 11 grandchild­ren; and many great-grandchild­ren; nieces and nephews.

She is remembered by her family and all who knew her to be an exemplary woman of love and faithful service to her Lord Jesus Christ and as a mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r “GG” who shared that love fully with all who crossed her path.

Memorial service in Edmond, Okla., will be set at a later date. Graveside service will be held at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock, Ark.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Ark., or Phillips Theologica­l Seminary, Tulsa, Okla.
