CABOT — Billy Ray Sherrill,

88, of Cabot, passed away January 12, 2021, from COVID-19 complicati­ons.

He was born August 12, 1932, in Ridgley, Tennessee, to the late Henry and Ollie Sherrill.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Robert Sherrill, three sisters, his wife’s two adult sons and one grandson.

Bill served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 in the 6520th Installati­on Group as a fire equipment helper and studied auto mechanics until he became disabled in 1954. Afterward, he traveled many places and then returned to reside in the Mayflower/Conway, Arkansas, area where he was raised as a young boy. From there, he moved to Little Rock and then settled in Cabot, Arkansas.

Bill had many talents as a mechanic, small engine repairman and gas station owner. Throughout his life he played the guitar and also played in a band. Bill had a love for music, cars and tinkering with just about anything.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of thirty-eight years, Marjorie Sherrill; daughters, Elizabeth Libby Gatton and Kathie Hayes; step-children, Susan Weatherfor­d, Laura Langstaff and David Ballou; numerous grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren; brother, John Sherrill, as well as many extended family members and life-long friends. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2021, at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
